What To Expect When You Get Clear Aligners – Step-by-Step
Looking for a more discreet way to straighten your teeth? Clear aligners might be the perfect fit. Here is what the process looks like from your very first appointment to your brand-new smile!
Step 1: You will meet Dr. Visconti and her team and during the consultation she will ask you about your concerns, examine your bite and talk about what can be done to correct your bite and straighten your teeth.
Step 2: Following the consultation appointment, a follow up appointment will be made to take xrays, models of your teeth, and photographs of your teeth and bite. Dr. Visconti then measures the xrays and models and creates a personalized treatment plan for you.
Step 3: Imprints using a special material are taken and sent with instructions by Dr. Visconti on how to build the clear aligners to the manufacturer
Step 4: You will be given an appointment to be given your aligners. We will walk you through the wear and care of your aligners. You will need to wear them 22 hours/day taking them out only to eat, drinking anything other than water and brushing your teeth.
Step 5: On average each set of aligners are worn for a period of 2 weeks at which time they are changed for the next set. Typically, you will be given 3 sets of aligners before your next appointment in 6 weeks in our office where we track your progress, check the fit of your next aligners and give you 3 more sets.
Step 6: Once you have completed treatment you will be given retainers which should be worn as instructed to ensure that your results last for a lifetime.
